The pseudocyst of the pancreas is the result of fluid accumulation in or about the pancreas from disruption of major duct, either by trauma or as a consequence of acute or chronic pancreatitis.
Pancreatic paeudocyst is a very rare condition in general surgical paractice. There are various surgical procedures for treatment of them.
Authors have experienced 4 cases of pancreatic pseudocyst during the past 2 years from May, 1966 to June, 1968 at the General Surgery Service of the First Army Hospital.
In our series, two cases were followed by blunt abdominal injury and the other two by acute pancreatitis. Three cases of them was treated with drainage; two by Roux-en-Y cystojejunostomy, one by transgastric cystogastrostomy. The remaining one case was managed by distal pancreatectomy with excision of pseudocyst. All the patients had unevenful postoperative course.
Available literatures for clinical symptom, diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic pseudocyst were reviewed.
